How can you move from green accounting to ESG reporting?
What are green accounts:
  • Green accounting was abolished in 2015.
  • The purpose was to inform the public about the environmental conditions of the largest and most environmentally-intensive companies.
  • Contains a statement from company management and an overview of (i) consumption of resources and (ii) emissions and waste volumes.
  • Arises from the Environmental Protection Act.
  • Useless and overtaken by companies’ voluntary environmental reporting.
The starting shot for ESG reporting:
  • Sustainability in the annual report is regulated in Section 99 a of the Danish Financial Statements Act.
  • Large companies in accounting class C and companies in accounting class D must report on their work with social responsibility.
  • Duty to publish a corporate social responsibility statement.
  • Corporate social responsibility policies.
  • Mandatory information.
  • Many companies choose to prepare actual ESG reports.
